PFD400- Exploration
Design Brief:
Design and prototype a toy/game, which is to be manufactured using laser-cutting processes and techniques aiming to use one sheet of 760mm x 440mm laser ply. Use sustainable design methods and principles to ensure that your toy design minimises environmental impact.
A board game called Castle Conquerors where players battle to control the castle. Made for ages 8+, the game includes shooting cannonballs to protect the castle from the invading knights. Fast gameplay makes the game engaging for younger players and the packaging transforms into a surrounding wall and backdrop to ensure the cannonballs are kept safe and aren't getting lost to keep the gameplay going.

Castle conquerors is made from 4mm laser ply and poplar ply. All pieces can be cut from a single sheet of size 760×440mm. 2 rubber bands are used to make the canons functional as well as each player having 5 soft rubber balls to launch. A spring is also used for the button

Castle and board: 400×290×170mm

All joints for this design use snap fittings without glue to minimise environmental impact. Tolerances have been taken into account to allow some pieces to separate to allow storage in the box, whilst others are on tightly so don’t come apart whilst playing
